Lingual Braces

Some of our patients want braces but object to the idea of having brackets show on their teeth.  Meet Sierra!  Sierra is a news reporter for KBOI and wanted her teeth straightened but did not want the braces to be visible on TV.

Here is a photo of her teeth before braces:

We decided to use “lingual braces” on the upper teeth and clear ceramic braces on the lower teeth the correct the bite.  Lingual braces are attached to the backside of the teeth rather than the front and are completely hidden from sight.

Because most people show less bottom teeth than upper teeth when they speak and smile, we decided use ceramic braces on the bottom, which were bonded to the front side of the teeth.  Ceramic braces are translucent and blend in with the teeth.  Although the wire on the bottom is still visible if you pull the bottom lip down, they are more discrete.

Sierra is just a few months away from finishing and we are very pleased with the progress.  We will give an update on the final result once the braces are removed!
