Orthodontic treatment is accomplished through a series of several appointments. We try to make your treatment as convenient as possible. Most of the visits to the orthodontist are quite brief. Putting braces on and taking them off requires a little more time. We have offices in both Boise and Meridian making appointments convenient for all patients.
Your First Visit
The initial consultation is meant to determine what the problems are, what can be done, how much it costs and how long it will take.
In order to answer these questions the health history will be reviewed, an oral examination performed and radiographs taken if necessary. We want to give you straight answers to your questions so you can make an informed decision.
If you are ready to go, we may acquire diagnostic records; models, x-rays, and photos in that visit. In many cases, we can get the treatment started right away. Once the treatment has started, the regular monthly visits will usually take about 20 minutes. We have a tradition of being most accommodating in working with the busy schedules of our patients.
What happens after the initial consultation?
You’re one step closer to achieving the smile you’ve always wanted!
After your consultation, we will schedule your first appointment and your doctor will place your new orthodontic appliance. This appointment generally takes about an hour, and during this time our team will be available to make sure that you are as comfortable as possible.
Scheduling Appointments
Visiting the orthodontist about every four to eight weeks is an important part of your orthodontic treatment. Our practice will work with you to make sure that your appointments are as convenient as possible. When scheduling appointments, please let us know what days and times work best for you.
We understand that “life happens”! If you’re running late or need to reschedule, please let us know and we will do everything we can to accommodate you.
When you’re ready to schedule your first appointment, contact our practice and our friendly scheduling coordinator will assist you. We’re looking forward to working with you.
Visiting the dentist during orthodontic treatment
It’s important that you allow your family dentist to continue checkups and cleanings even while you are undergoing orthodontic treatment. If other dental treatment is needed, it can be done usually without significant interruption to the orthodontic treatment.
